My wife and I enjoy camping with a tent and, whilst we like a site with good showers and nice pitches, we prefer to stay somewhere quiet with no pool, statics, club room, laundry etc. Basically NOT a holiday park! This year we plan to take a break from the 'variable' Scottish weather and travel south into England for some sun - can anybody recommend something really nice? Near a beach ideally? Sun MUST be guaranteed, this isn't an option!

Thanks, Trevor.

Well if the Sun MUST be guaranteed then I guess there isn't a sight for you in England anywhere.  I wish I could find one where the Sun is guaranteed.  I must keep an eye on this thread.

If you look at the first review of that site, it says came home early due to bad weather.  Let me know when you go next, I will go at the same time.  I could do with some Sun on a camping holiday.  But then you probably wouldn't want me to go as the bad weather seems to follow me around.  I can only ever remember one camping holiday where we had blazing sun for 6 days of the 7 we were there.  All our camping holiday are normally rained out, cold.  We very rarely get more than a couple of days of sun.  We still enjoy it all though.

I noticed the review of that site too - I think I'll give that one a miss for now in the hope that someone recommends something in a more tropical part of the UK. We camped a few times in various parts of Scotland last year - every time we went it rained constantly - every time we cam home our neighbours told us how lovely it had been!

It's a long old drive, from 'Bonny Scotland' down to Norfolk... But you'd be surprised with the links Norfolk has with the Scots over the years...

The fishing fleets from the East coast of Scotland, were regular visitors to Great Yarmouth during the 'herring season'. All the 'fisher girls' who processed the herrings were Scottish lassies... 'Scotch beef' cattle were bought down to the 'Broadland' marshes for 'fattening' before being sold, at Norwich cattle market...

And... In East Anglia, you'll get 'statistically' more sunshine than anywhere else in the country!... There are some of the most beautiful, peaceful and friendly campsites in the country... So, although it's a long way to come, I'm sure you wouldn't regret it!...

Best Wishes... Andy...

Thanks Andy, sounds great! Are there any particular favourites in Norfolk that you could recommend?

Thanks Again,
T

So, you like 'peace & quiet' by the sea... Well, I reckon "Walnut Farm" at Waxham, would be perfect.

It's a small site about five minutes walk from the dunes and sandy beach. Waxham & Sea Palling are very quiet villages with no 'amusements' or 'holiday camps'. Waxham is about 12 miles north of Gt. Yarmouth...

The site itself is friendly and has all the 'facilities' you need. There are lovely coastal and 'broadland' walks, with friendly local pubs for 'refreshment'. For a quiet, restfull holiday, I'd recommend it... Andy...

P.S. "Walnut Farm" is a 'Camping & Caravan Club' site.

I notice from Fiona's 'website' that she's an artist... Well, Norfolk is perfect for an 'artistic' holiday... I draw and paint (not particularly well!) myself. The huge 'skies' of Norfolk, have inspired many artists, in the past, John Sell Cotman, John Crome, Edward Seago, John Arnesby Brown, Bertram Priestman and many, many others...

It's a lovely place!... Best Wishes... Andy...
