What makes Scotland so distinctive? The country itself is two-thirds the size of England and Wales but has less than a tenth of its population. This, added to spectacular scenery, a turbulent past and a rich and diverse culture makes it a wonderful place to take a holiday. With over 6,000 miles of rugged coastline, you will be spoilt for choice if you love the sea and island hopping.
Oban will allow you to sail around the islands or simply enjoy the Western Highlands.
Culzean Castle has great views over the Isle of Arran.
Rosemarkie is on the eastern coast. Here your sea views are likely to include bottlenose dolphins and otters. Travel a little further north to
Dingwall – on the Cromarty Firth. Our third Site on these north eastern Firths is
Nairn, great for golfers and ramblers as well as beachcombers.
Barns Ness comes with its own lighthouse view across the North Sea. The Scottish lochs are lakes of incredible beauty. We have two Club Sites on the famous Loch Lomond, which is considered to be the world’s best known loch.
Luss is within striking
distance of the vibrant city of Glasgow. On the other side is
Milarrochy Bay – where you can also can bring your boat for the season. The less well known Loch Long is home to
Ardgartan. Our most northerly Club Site is at
Inverewe Gardens. You may be surprised at the weather up here. Because of the Gulf Stream, the amazing gardens can grow tropical plants, even though it is further north than Moscow. The Borders are home to
Jedburgh,
Lauder and
Moffat Club Sites – each an interesting place in its own right, and also a good base for travelling up or down the country. This countryside was infamous in the past because of the feuding between the English and the Scots. Today, peace reigns and you can really appreciate the lovely scenery they were fighting over. For a truly royal holiday, why not try
Scone, in the grounds of a Royal Palace, or
Tarland – very close to Balmoral. Our final Scottish Site is at
Speyside, which will not need an introduction for whisky lovers. Our lovely Scottish Sites hold the record for the number of positive letters sent in to Club Headquarters, this could be a good year to find out why.
