Please could somebody help me...

I am interested in sites in the Pickering area, or anywhere within reasonable distance to Pickering, Whitby, Scarborough.

I am looking for a really nice quite site for a tent, which has clean amenities but no clubhouse.

I have been looking through the campsite search, but I always prefer recommendations.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Leila

Upper Carr is a nice site not a lot on it but there is a pub that serves meals over the road. It is not far from pickering.

We went on a UKCS meet at New Year to The Vale of Pickering and we found the site to be lovely - will definately try to get back in the summer months. The toilets and showers were immaculate including 2 baths in there too.

Hi, good luck finding a site, surely the campsite listings are full of hundreds of recommendations on the form of the visitor reviews?
Cheers! Ian

Of course you are right Ian, but I don't think everyone posts reviews and some have more upto date info.

Like Val we were at vale of pickering at New Year, have also been there at Easter when there were plenty of tents in their own area, can thoroughly recomend this site.

Another one with no clubhouse is Ashfield Caravan Site, Kirby Misperton.( this is opposite Flamingo land)

Thank you for your replies. I like the sound of the Spiers house in the forest, but the bugs put me off a bit. They seem to find me particularly tasty!

Vale of Pickering sounds nice too, is it really big?

Wolds Way Caravan Site at Winteringham near Pickering is lovely on the top of a hill with good views. Its fairly new so the showers etc are immaculate. We went for a couple of night last March and there were tents there even that early in the year. the owners David and Carole are lovely they had a free hog roast when we were there to celebrate the start of a new season.

Thanks Caroline, I'll have a look at that one too. We aren't going until August, but I'm dead excited and want to get booked up early!

It's a shame about the bugs, but I know they would make my holiday miserable!

Hi Leila

We have stayed at Brow House Farm in Goathland a couple of times although the last time was about two years ago.

This is a very basic site on a working farm, no clubhouse noise and just around the corner from the village. (This is where Heartbeat was filmed)
