has anyone used this site since it has become a Park Resorts site ( i think thats who run it now). now called Bure Village , formerly Liffens Holiday park.

we went there in 2003 for a week and it was brilliant , under 50 quid for 7 nights in early June and with a free indoor pool. thinking of going again early June this year .Just wondering what if any changes have been made ?

I live only 9 miles from Gt Yarmouth, when it reopens for the season I'll be only too pleased to go and check it out for you.

Personally I swear by Clippsby

Shame about Gt Yarmouth though.  See the following extract from the Idler Book of Crap Holidays.  Very accurate portrayal in my mind!

Important: Before reading on, I stress that I do not intend the description of the people that go to Gt Yarmouth included in the extract as an insult to you.

"GREAT YARMOUTH

Looking for somewhere to go on holiday this summer? Well, if you’re the type of holidaymaker who likes to drink, beat, rape, and p*ss in the street then Great Yarmouth is the place for you.

In fact, if you’re even considering Yarmouth as a holiday destination, you probably fit the description above. Each summer the town is plagued by foul-mouthed reprobates who won a week in a p*ssy caravan park from a competition in The Sun. The streets are awash with obese, drunken imbeciles, their screaming kids, regurgitated candyfloss, and dogsh*t.
Which makes a pleasant change from the scag-addled locals, who roam the streets in desolate winter looking for a quiet place out of the driving wind, to shoot up / rape / abuse their children.

In winter there’s something beautiful about Yarmouth, in a post-apocalyptic kind of way; sand blows across the promenade like nuclear dust, while mewling miscreants drool in the gutter or prowl the backstreets like packs of rabid dogs.
It’s hate-crime heaven.

People who remain in Yarmouth after leaving school fit into two distinct categories: heroin addicts and alcoholics. The height of a Yarmouth boy’s ambition is to own a Vauxhall Nova with a spoiler on the back. The height of a Yarmouth girl’s ambition is to have as many children as possible. Whilst chain smoking. And shooting up.

Did I mention incest?

Don’t even go there on a dare.

C White"

cheers for that. if i remember rightly there are 2 sites almost opposite each other , the one with the outdoor pool i wasnt too keen on but the one we stopped at was a fair site.

wasnt over impressed with Yarmouth itself , particularly the morons doing drag racing on a night down past the pleasure beach thing or whatever its called.it was the broads and cruising down the rivers that was the main attraction , and the beach at Gorleston was good too.

regards

That is correct, there are numerous sites going towards Burgh Castle.  Wild Duck used to be OK in a commercial kind of way. But it is now part of Haven Holidays, I'm not so sure.

Probably best to stick with Clippesby.

Hi Bev and John,

I posted a review on here last year when we returned from Breydon Water. We stayed on the busier site (Yare Village) as it had more for the kids. However we were on the Bure Village in order to use the indoor pool. Site was very quiet, small bar with kids entertainment only in high season). Gym on site looked good and the shop was very well stocked. The playground was very small with not a lot of equipment on it, this could be why most families were across the road. I would recomend it for a stay, hubby and I would like to go back in the future but again the kids would want the site with the showbar, outdoor pool and kids club all the time. Park resorts prices are still very reasonable for June and you can price your break online, stating which village you would like to stay on.Good luck, and if you do go have a look round Yare, test the showers for me and see if they are any better...lol...side your looking at, their showers were fine!

hi loopie.

thanks for that. not too bothered about the bar or playground but the indoor pool is a good seller for us. our kids are that bit older now , probably only have our 14 year old with us anyway , so a pool and  somewhere to go on bikes will do nicely.

This site brings back fond memories to me, my first experience there was about 1970 I was about 4 then and we went every year until I was about 16. We had a trailer tent and there were 6 of us a dog and a canary, dad had a Austin Cambridge estate to get us all there, they were great times its changed a lot since when we went it was called Hilldrop camping before becoming Lifens. I remember all there was on site for the kids was a old white lorry to play on, does anyone else here remember that.
