i'm looking for a site (tent) not too far from north cheshire (too far e.g Southport)
we aren't going away for a long holiday this year, but would like to go for weekends instead.
We need somewhere that has enough things on site to keep the kids entertained, ( not haven) so we can relax. Sorry but a set of swings keep them amused for the half hour it takes us to set up but then they are constantly nagging for us to go somewhere and spend money. I am sure we can't be the only family out there like this, hence my plea for help.
thanks sukilou

Hi.have a look at holingworth lake caravan site rochdale.on the site search facility, it says they take tents.its in a nice spot.happy camping..royell.
Hi have you tried Abbey farm at Ormskirk, it has lots of open spaces childrens play area, library, table tennis, table football, walks, fishing lake, five minutes from local indoor clean swimming baths, ormskirk centre ten minutes, southport twenty minute drive or train in ten. has good little shop on site and very clean shower blocks. good cheap price for quality venue. regards

If i could pick this site up and move it closer then i'd probably move in full time. (What a great site)
When i said not Southport, i should have said the general area.
It took us 3 hours to get there the last few times of going to Ormskirk just because of the traffic heading towards Southport
It was a nightmare with the kids arguing in the back of the car.
Thanks for your suggestion, and i would recommend to everyone else

You can avoid the southport traffic to get to Abbey Farm by coming off at junction 27 of M6 and past Parbold/Newburgh then turn left before the Esso and turn first right -instead of junction 26/M58 - much quicker!
