Hi

Does anyone know of a good site in Bath as we plan to visit Longleat in June?

We stayed at Newton Mill at the end of June last year, check out the reviews here

I believe the site can get very busy during the holidays but we had no problems end of June/early July.

didn't know if you were aware of the cc site right next door to the safari park? Within walking distance apparently!!

If you have a caravan, then I can strongly recommend the CC site, which is right alongside the back gate to the Longleat Estate - very close to the house itself. 

The beauty of this is that you can wander in and out of the estate freely.  If you buy one of Longleat's passport tickets, you can take as long as you like to 'do' each of the chargeable attractions and return to the free ones as you please.

I can't remember if it is a members only site - but is usually worth joining for longer stays anyway.

Thanx to you all.  I read the reviews about Newton Mill and thought it might be busy.  but if you say it should be ok in June then I will take your advise.  Wish me luck that its not to busy.

Hi Eve another two to consider are Brokerswood Country park http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=4210 and Seven Acres in Frome (http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3730).

We stayed at Seven Acres last summer whilst visiting Longleat and found it to be a really pleasant site. Quiet, small, cheap and pretty with a stream running through that the kids fished & paddled in.(about 10 mins drive away).

Brokerswood was our 1st choice as it had quite a bit for the kids to do but we left it too late to book..!

Looks really good a Brokers Wood, have sent for a brochure  because I couldnt get a price list of the site was'nt letting me down load the list.  How far is Longleat from Seven Acres?

Its on the outskirts of the Longleat estate.Not too sure how far away it was but it only took us about 10-15 mins in the car.

Couple of other things I remember about it: No fixed pitches,which for us was a good thing with a large tent + gazebo.They also had a couple of swings.

Washing facilities were clean although only one shower each for male/female so you either had to get there very early or very late.

It was about half the price of Brokerswood. As the main reason for us going there was to go to Longleat we probably wouldn't have used the extra facilities on site at Brokerswood anyway.But we were only there for a long weekend  it may have been different had we been there longer.

Seems strange typing mummy when yr not really my mummy but you have been excellent in helping me mummy. Seven Acres seems basic and we are planning on staying a week and take in the sights while we are in the South but the reviews dont seem that great really and 1 shower if we are going in summer time, well we will be fighting over it, if we are staying for a week.

You're probably wise if your going for a week to go somewhere with better facilities.

I'm sure wherever you end up you'll have a fab time. Longleat is BRILLIANT...I'm very jelous!
