have a look at Fangoss it's in the campsite search , we have had a few rally's there & its well recomended

We've just back from the Caravan Club site at Rowntree Park in York. It's near the centre of town but it'd can't be more than a mile or two from the racecourse.

York racecourse allows camping at certain times.  If not try Naburn Loch Caravan Site

Hi

 We have stayed several times at York Marine Services nice quiet site on the ouse next door to the Bishop of Yorks residence 5 mins from Tesco' which also has the Park anad Ride bus service that stops out side the race course

Hope you have a nice stay

The Whetherby racecourse also used to double as campsite. In my memory just 15 or 20 mns driving from York.

try rawcliffe park, nice small clean site with pub and all hardstandings & full facilities on pitch open all year adults only

Try YCP York Caravan Park (http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=6567) - it's a new site that opened this year.  I would say that though as I'm the owner! - it is in the White Rose finals for 'Best Newcomer To Tourism' though, so must be doing something right!

You can get the 'coastliner' bus from right outside the site and it will drop you at the racecourse. I think it costs about £2.

I dunno if these are near enough for you Debs, but we went to Naburn Lock last year and loved it and this year we are going here as it seems a bit more central for us.
