Hi, Can anyone recommend a quiet camp site in the peak district? I know were going at a busy time of the year (midweek end of July) but we like the 'quiet' ones without clubhouses, pools, shops & play areas etc, in fact the more basic the better?
Ive had a quick search but havent had much time to look & nothing jumped out at me!!
Thanks

We went to the C&CC site at crowden for Whit bank Hols last year, it was very quiet. Nice site with some great walks, nothing really within easy walking diestance though, you need to drive to the pubs/shops. Not far from Glossop. There were a fair few midges about in May, close to water though as it's right by a resevoir. We had a lovely time there, our first camping trip. The C&Cc site at Hayfield is also meant to be good and closer to amenities etc
BTW the pub near the site recommended by Winhill is fantastic. Real ale and great food, friendly staff and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Its the Bulls Head, bottom picture in my profile.

Hi there is a site near Blackwell in the peak called Cottage farm, they do have a web site, its lovely it has a separate camping field, no frills, basic loos but clean, basic shop and plenty of walking in the area, look on the camp site search or in my reviews.
We`ve stayed at losehill in castleton a few times its a CC site no club house etc. Within walking distance of the village, plenty of local pubs and resturants but can not reccomend the chinese in Hope village.
Thanks everyone. ive had a look & liked most of them, looks like well have to book in advance tho we hope to go beginning of summer hols. Just hope it doesnt rain we didnt have much luck with the weather last summer!!!
