The most recent entry in the 'reviews' is May 05. We're thinking about going this summer hols and would like to know if you'd recommend it. We'll be 4 adults and 4 boys, 5-8 yrs. Thanks!

Hi

I wasn't going to reply as I hoped someone who has been there would be on but we tried to get on here last summer and left it too late - it got fully booked for August early in the summer.

We did go to Charmouth tho and my sister stayed at another site in town. We visited the beach and the site looked lovely and the children all play in the stream that runs down to the beach (it was very shallow but they need a boat or something to play with).

If I was going back to the area it would be my first choice.

I was wondering if anyone knows the pitch sizes on this site ?

I said my tent was 7x5m (Gelert Satellite 6) and they said I needed a double pitch.

There was review (albeit 2005, and the may have changed the rules) where a Wynnster Satellite (8x9m) was accomodated on a standard pitch.

If anyone has an opinio on whether I should book 2 pitches, feel free to comment.

Thanks,
Yuri.

We've stayed there in a static - lovely site, great for instant access to a lovely beach and walks. The campsite part is nice and flat but as it was autumn, there were no tents so can't comment on the pitch size. Another great site on the outskirts of Charmouth is Wood Farm.

Hi

I used to work at Seadown & Newlands (when they were owned by the same people!!)

Seadown is a lovely site with direct access to the seafront - just a walk along the river!

On site is a well stocked little shop, The camp field is flat if you want lots of room go for the double pitch the pitches run round a little track & theres spaces in the middle if I remember rightly!

At the sea front is a cafe & theres great walks to Lyme Regis or Eype but be careful of the tides they turn quickly!

In charmouth is 2 pubs & a couple of cafes & a very good chippie!!

Also straight opposite the road you turn down to get to Seadown is Manor Farm campsite which has a clubhouse which is open to non residents - they generally have entertainment on in the evening! Kids discos etc.

The bus runs regularly to Lyme, parking in Lyme can be a nightmare!

Hope you have a fab time, I now live in the midlands & really miss the south coast!

Hey,

Just read something about a major landslide on Charmouth beach last year:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/4613410.stm

Does anyone know how this has affected the quality of the beach ?

Many thanks,
Yuri.
