We're looking for a campsite to go away for a few days at Easter. I just found Magic Cove, thanks to another thread and thought it sounded ideal. When I looked at the reviews on this site though, I found a review which said:

As one of the last Dog Friendly areas in the country, it's Dog owners heaven, so if you don't, then please go to one of the many areas in the country dogs aren't welcome. Chevys Dad.

Now, I'm not a dog hater, but don't fancy being absolutely surrounded by them, particularly off their leads. Has anyone been? I'm thinking of my daughter more than anything. She loves dogs, but shouts at them and tries to chase them, which may antagonise some. (She's only 11 months so hasn't yet learned not to!)

So, is it really full of dogs, or just an average campsite?

Most Campsites allow dogs but only if they are kept on leads and they are not allowed to roam the campsite.

As for beaches there are a few that dogs are not allowed on during the high season ,this is annoying to us dog owners as most of the time dog owners are singled out to a shingle beach and not a sandy beach. This is the fact that it is due to irresponsable dog owners that just leave the dog mess lying around and cannot be bothered to pick the mess up.

If all dog owners were like us campers then we wouldnt have the problem of taking any dog to any beach !!!

I don't mind dogs, I just felt that this post was suggesting that we would be camped in the middle of crufts! I don't think even dog owners would appreciate that. I just wondered if anyone had been and could reassure me that its a normal campsite with a normal amount of dogs?

hi, i've never been to this site, but, am considering it for this summer.
oneof the things that swayed me to this one was the fact that its dog friendly and dogs are allowed on the beach - it's our first holiday with a dog so i was keen to get somewhere that likes dogs!

A friend of ours went the Magic Cove last summer - if you don't like the idea of having lots of dogs around you I wouldn't consider going here. Whilst it was almost certainly not like being in crufts, there were a lot of dogs - probably because it's SO dog friends and the dogs can go on the beach (a rare thing in peak season).

Perhaps not the best choice with a toddler....

Thanks very much for your reply, we've had a look at a few others and are looking for somewhere else to stay.

We fancied Magic Cove or Watermouth Cove (see link) last summer http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2721 and for no real reason other than the toss of a coin chose Watermouth Cove.

We spent a week there last June, and really enjoyed it. Its a well laid out site with good facilities and plenty to do in the area.

If you are looking for an alternative you could do worse.

Cheers

Paul
