Hi All,

I am off to Keswick at the weekend for a couple of days cycling. Does anyone know of pubs that do good quality pub food in Keswick, as I like a good feed when I have spent all day in the saddle. Any recommendations will be really appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

Are you staying at the C&CC site on the lake?

there's  a thwaites one on the high street, can't remember it's name, it's on a corner and is also an Inn... The lodge possibly???  any way if you walk up the street (slightly up hill in direction) past the tourist information building it's on the left hand side. They do a very good steak pie and my husband recommends the cumberland sausage. reasonable prices and you don't have to get changed....horridly busy in the summer but lovely in the winter.  For really cheap there's another on the high street same side but not as high up next to the queens hotel (only place i can remember cos we stayed there) with big windows overlooking the street...food was OK but nothing great...wouldn't rush back.  I think most of the pubs do food..there's also a nice pizza place, sort of down an alley....can't remeber where though.

Have fun, I love Keswick

Hi

The Bank tavern does really good food, its almost opposite the post office at the bottom of square, theres a road that come in on the left which is a dead end if you look down the square just past Boots, there are some bike racks on this corner and across the road is a covered area with some chairs outside this is the rear entrance to the Bank tavern, so very convinient for going into Keswick on the bikes did the same thing in Feb.

Also the chinese resturant is really good as well just a bit further down than the Bank tavern.

And the Indian resturant is at the side of the big main carpark, thats was really good as well.

Keswick is one of my favorite places, have a great trip.

Love Keswick - been loads of times.  Four in Hand pub opposite George Fishers Outdoor Shop does excellent food - Usually has specials listed on a blackboard outside.  Also the Pack Horse in Pack Horse Court near Beatrix Potter shop is a nice eating place.

The Chippy at the top of the high st. Overlooking the little square. They do knockout fish and chips and they have seating indoors. When we are in Keswick we always do one meal there before going the pub

Keswick for ever

Last year the Four in Hand went non smoking and there was a waiting list for tables.
If you don't mind a drive out go to Cockermouth through either Whinlatter Pass or a longer route is Newlands Pass - two pubs - the Black Bull and Brown Cow both do good food and all the locals use them cos their cheap.

Try Oddfellows Arms on the main street its a really great pub with great atmosphere and good food, I have been to Keswick a few times and eaten at lots of places and never had a rubbish meal yet.

Have a good time.
