We stayed overnight at Taunton Dene on a couple of occasions some years back. It was ok, and so busy that no-one collected our fee. However it was very noisy from the M5 and from all the artics coming and going. Not very enjoyable, really.

Minnows CC Site, just a mile off the M5 at Junction 27 for Tiverton has proved a very successful stopover for us in the past.

Wouldn't recommend motorway service areas for the reasons given above.

Ooohhhh you've gone full width on my widescreen lappy for some reason! Don't know what you've done?

But if the M5 is anything like our return trip last summer....you won't need to worry about somewhere to stop! We'd stopped for the whole bl**dy length of it!

For the South West a break I would head for the Tudor Caravan site... come off at junction 13 at Stroud if coming for the North....  Situated just by the Slimbridge Bird Sanctury in Glos.  The A38 runs parellel with the motorway so you can toddle down to Junction 14 the next morning rather than retrace your steps.....

I live in Gloucestershire and even I fancy going to stay there because of the location..... nuff said.

We always travel at night when we're going away but just do and early morning start for the return journey, reluctant to leave.......

No need to book in anywhere - plenty of parking spaces on the M5 itself.

Live near the RAC tower and go up on a Saturday morning in season to have a laugh at the 'car park'.  Aren't I mean???

Will be on there myself at the end of June going to Helston. Hope its better then.
