I am looking forward to my first camping trip in the uk, i have camped a lot in southern africa.
One of the things that concerns me is that by the sounds of things and the few pictures i have seen, the campsites are absolutely packed with people all around you.
What are the chance of getting a camp site this summer where the nearest camping neighbour is shouting distance away?

I too look for peace and quiet when camping. What are the chances of finding peace and quiet..............slim to none. Let me know if you find anywhere. Don't let the rain put you off.
Well dunno what this site will be like in Summer but I was at Hollins Farm in Lake District last weekend and it's so remote I doubt it'll get over crowded as the only thing to do in the area in go walking.

Never be afraid to try something new, remember.... Amateurs built the 'Ark'... but Professionals built the 'Titanic' !!!
Shell island is pretty good - it's the largest campsite in the UK. By their rules, you can't be any closer than 20ft from the next tent - but most are four times that away
