Hi everyone - looking forward to getting away at the weekend - lets hope the weather holds out.

Apart from Salisbury and Stonehenge, can anyone recommend other places to go/things to do in the area.

Thanks and have a good one everybody.

Oooo. I grew up in Salisbury. Try some of these:

Pepperbox Hill, east of salisbury - great views.
Wilton House. Great adventure playground if you have kids.
Wardour Castle - where Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was filmed and worth a visit.
The villages in the chalk and nadder valleys, west of salisbury, are lovely. there are lots of reasonable pubs, try the Black Dog at Chilmark.
You are only 20 mins from the north west corner of the New Forest - Hale Purlieu is lovely.
Old Sarum castle, on the northern outskirts of salisbury. Great for kids to play on the earthern ramparts.

My personal opinion is that you can see as much of Stonehenge from the road, you don't have to pay to park (or you didn't 5 years ago) so you can park and walk across the road and look through the fence, rather than pay to look through a fence anyway.

There are loads of lovely walks to do around the New Forest, you can pick up leaflets showing the routes from Tourist Information.  There's some great gardens as well, Exbury, Furzy, etc.  Normally this time of year there'd probably be the azaeleas and rhoderdendrums out, but I think everything's late this year so I'm not sure.
