Hi - We are off to Sandfield House Farm Caravan Site in Sandsend, Whitby next weekend - has anybody been there & what is the best route from South Yorkshire?

Yes!  This would be our route but I know we have to avoid Sutton Bank! & I am not too sure how this is re-routed?

That route does avoid Sutton Bank....when you get to the end of the A169 you join the A171 turn right towards Whitby  drop down into Whitby theres a garage on the left  turn Left at roundabout  strait along to the end where there is a new mini roundabout turn left and your campsite is about 1/2 mile on your left

Do Not Try and approach from a different direction

Cos there is some proper 1 in 4 hills around !!!!!!

Cheer Big Al !! - We know about these big hills + so does our Pajero. Hasn't let us down so far but we'll not push it ehhh!!!

why not turn off the A169 near fylingdales early warning radar station and take to the moors for a bit of laning towards Whitby ?

What Big Al !  A bit of Laning with 'Elvis the Elddis' behind us!! hmmm - perhaps not. It's bad enough bouncing about on the roads in South Yorkshire?

   I think you will love Sandfield Farm - great site - lovely sea views - pub ten min. walk.  Not sure about directions from south as I come from north.  Have a great week-end - we are off to Scotland - take care - jackied

Yes we did like Sandfield Farm (apart from Toilet Block) - had some lovely walks around Goatland, Glaisdale, Grosmont & Cleveland Way. Yummy Fish & Chips from the Magpie Fish Bar in Whitby & a stroll each morning from the Campsite along the beach to Sandsend Village.

Where in Scotland did you get to? - hope you had a nice time.
