Hi- can anyone peronally reccommend a campsite on the Isle of Wight for August school holidays- pref. with a swimming pool? Im thinking they will all be packed -am I right?
------------- carry on camping
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
You could try ringing Likes of Whitecliffe or Nodes point, see if they have any cancelations, Ive tried most listed in the virtual brochure and all were full for August, Ive booked a site without pool (and saved a fortune)
HI Joanne, they are all likely to be packed. As shielsy says if you use the campsite listings, you'll find masses and masses of reviews and recommendations from other UKCampsite members, on all the IOW sites
If you are using the on-line booking and it says none available, try ringing them. There has been quite a few times in the past when I have the on-line booking and it said that nothing was available, but when I have rung them they had no problems fitting me in.
We are booked in at Whitecliff Bay in August. Its the first time we have been there although we tend to go to the Island about 5 times a year. It came highly recommended though.
The Orchards which is in Newbridge just east of Yarmouth. They do an excellent deal with the ferry, we went on Wight Link Lymington/Yarmouth (30min crossing) and basically the saving was the equivalent of the cost of a short break there. Lovely site, and a great base for touring the island. As its a bit further away from the south of the islands attractions it might be worth a look, got an indoor pool etc.
Hi Joanne the caravanning & camping club site at Adgestone near sandown has an excellent small heated pool.A really good site for kids & has superb shower blocks. You can check availability of pitches through their new online booking service on the website.
We like the PArk resorts park at Nodes Point, off there for the second time in the summer. Has all the stuff you'd expect for the kids, but more importantly for us the beach is right there. Turn right for bucket and spade sandcastles, left for rock pools. there are reviews on here. The kids adore the place, and we can't beat lying back and watching the ships on the Solent. The only slight downside is a bit of a slope on the field, but it's worth it.
We're booked into the Orchards for the first two weeks of August (booked it last August!).
We usually stick with CC sites, where the pitch sizes are usually very generous. However, in the few pictures I've seen of The Orchards, the pitches look a little small. Is there anyone who can comment on this? We've chosen an all-service hardstanding.
