Hi all,

Anyone know of a site near Crewe or Nantwich?  I've searched and come up with Brookfield in Nantwich which looks ideal but it's closed this year (I've emailed Crewe-Natwich council to check but not had a reply).

I live near Oxford but the company I work for is based in Crewe, I want to camp overnight occasionally to save cash (diesel £1 per litre!).

I don't really need many facilities, toilets would be good though!

Any ideas?

I'd be interested in the reply too, as I'm  looking for canalside sites for later in the year.

I was told there were four in Nantwich but I was only able to find the said( closed?) Brookfield.

Ohhh, I think I can manage that!

I should be staying tonight and possibly tomorrow night too.  I'll have camera (well, Camphone), laptop and GPRS connection.  I should be able to get some photos up and a couple of Live "as the action happens" reports

Was even thinking of doing a Podcast (Tentcast?) and making that available too (am I getting carried away here?)

How about Haycroft Farm Spurstow or Cotton Arms Wrenbury have not stayed at either but live locality to both and hear good things about them. they are both about 7 miles out of Nantwich in different directions.

Wrenbury is on the canal by the way.sorry cannot manage to do the link needed so you can acess them you'll have to use search engine. jope it helps Nikki

Thanks for the tips all, I'll spend some quality time with a map and see where they are (I don't need to go there for a while).

As an aside... I just went to book in to the campsite for tonights stay and there is a helicopter parked where my tent is going to go!

The Warden suggested I pitched *after* he left.  Not sure the guy ropes would stand it...

There is a chap who commutes to work in his Chopper (rather than *on* his Chopper) and he paid to have a level area built so he can land there.  The bonus for the site is that it's an area for tents when not in use!

In a previous life( as it were!) I once took pictures of helicopters in unusual places

I had pictures of them in  pub car parks, roads, fields, ancient momunments,peoples gardens but never in a campsite

If it happens to try to land on "your pitch" while your tent is there I hope you'll take a photo

Where is this campsite by the way?

I have stayed at Cotton Arms and it was an excellent site, although there is only one shower with the key available during pub hours although there are two toilets available around the clock as well as the ones in the pub itself again only when the pub is open. Having said that the pub does a brilliant cooked breakfast from 8.30 on I think so you have access to facilities from early on. There is also a good restaurant 50 yards away by the canal bridge and this is the same distance to the canal path and boatyard/turning basin.
