Just spent 10 nights at Fishguard Bay and the facilities are excellent. The views across the bay must rank up there with the very best that any uk camp sites have to offer. Loads to do in and around Fishguard. The leisure centre is a must it's only four years old and punches well above it's weight for the size of the town. Myself the wife and two kids went swimming during the family swim session and it cost us a whole 10 pence. Whats more we had the entire place to ourselves both pools. Eating out we found two places that we would go back to Something's Cooking in nearby Letterson is well worth a visit for excellent fish and chips, they do an early bird deal from 1200-1600hrs Fish, chips peas bread roll and a brew for £7.75. The Royal Oak in Newtown is a pub come Curry House. Judging by the licensee's name they are of Indian descent and offer a wide range of Indian meals as well as the more traditional on their menu. I plumped for the Sunday roast and wasn't disappointed the wife made the best choice of a fried rice and mixed vegatebles with a curry sauce absolutely to die for. For beaches visit Whitesands bay near to St Davids, it is supervised by RNLI lifeguards and the waves are great for boarding. Nearby St David's is the UK's smallest city and worth a visit. We also went crabbing off the slipway at Lower Town and watched seals for free at Strumble Head. All in all a great time in a great area and based at a fantastic camp site. Be warned however due to the location of the camp site it can get a bit blowy. We survived the Great Wind of Fishguard on our visit but some of our fellow campers were less fortunate. At least three tents ended up in the bin. Don't know whether it was poor tents, poor pitching or just one of those things but you need to be aware if you are going to FIshguard bay that it can at times be a bit windy. That being said we would defintely go back. Roll on next year.
