There is a CCC site in Keswick it is right on the lakeside but if you are willing to travel a little there is Brathwaite which is about 4 miles west of Keswick there is a large site there and there is a path right into Keswick from there if you stay further from Keswickyou will find a lot more sites but then you'll have to pay for parking everywhere you go but then again its the lakes so you always have to pay Some of the carparks operate a system if you pay for a full day parking you can use the ticket in other carparks in the area but you will have to check on the notice board

Castlerigg Hall. One of the best. For caravaning majority of pitches are terraced so that the view over the lake to Cat Bells is uninterupted (a telephone tower spoils it a bit). For tents there is a 'campers kitchen and mess room. The showers, games room, shop, cafe etc are all v.good. The walk to Keswick is pleasant but steep (you can't get to it from inside the site - you have to go out past the pub.

Of all the sites in Keswick this is the best IF you don't need to be by the lake. (If you've got bikes and are 1/2 fit cycle down to the leisure pool - east along the old railway track to near Threlkeld and back to the site via Castlerigg Stone Circle.

I wish I was going.
