I wouldn't recommend Lower Lacon for a stay if visiting Oswestry as the road from Wem to Ellesmere is not good.
The Plassey is a good choice and Oxon at Shrewsbury is also a nice site; for Caravan Club members, Lady Margarets at Chirk is very popular but it is members only. James Caravan Park at Ruabon hasn't a lot to offer and is very close to the main road so a lot of traffic noise. Trotting Mare is a personal favourite but the washing/loo facilities aren't great.
Unfortunately Oswestry itself is rather lacking in campsites apart from a very basic Caravan Club CL about a mile from Park Hall.
If someone would like to put up the dosh I'd be very happy to assist in choosing a suitable field and advising on required facilities, in return for a free pitch whenever I need one.
