Hi, i am looking to go to the Isle of Wight in August (yes i know ive left it a bit late!!) and i'm after a small site with no entertainment, clubhouse etc.

All we want is a sensible sized pitch (folding camper and gazebo), toilet, shower and not too many other people.Just somewhere to chill out with my wife and 2 boys (aged 5 & 8) for a week or two.

Can anyone recommend anywhere please?

Sounds like Southlands camping may be just for you. It really is a beautiful site in the middle of the Island in Newchurch. Spotlessly clean and well run, about 10mins drive from Sandown and Shanklin and 5 mins from the local supermarkest but very quiet, 10min walk to the pub serving great foood and good beer. Been there loads of times in tent and caravan.

Have you looked at Brighstone Holiday Centre? Might suit you. 

We stayed here last summer, with a 7, 11 and 15 year old.  Nice quiet clean site near Needles.  Can recommend

 Paul and Jen, how did you find the groundsman at Heathfields? My brother!!

 If you really want to chill out and get some peace and are prepared to use a car for food and supplies try Chine farm near Chale. The views are uninterupted across the english channel and if you want a quick pint the holiday camp nearby accepts Chine Farm guests. This site really is in the back of beyond but if its peace you want....

 Or Brightstone grange farm. Again its right on the clif top with great views and food is available with a 15 minute walk into Brighstone where the local pub serves a good variety of food.

 These two sites are remote and at night theres no light polution giving spectacular stary nights. One bad point, the toilet/shower blocks won't win any awards but there has to be a trade off for peace and quiet....
