Was wondering if anyone knows of any campsites near/ around sheffield, I have to go to the ponds forge leisure complex late july - within a 20 min drive would be ideal, have search the campsite search with no success...
Any ideas

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Crowden C&CC site is about 40 mins drive away from Sheffield City Centre. Ing Farm at Ingbirchworth is roughly the same distance, I have the details if you need them. I have stayed at both, the only problem was crowden was midgey.

There is a small Site near Penistone South Yorks - approx 20/30 mins drive into Sheffield. Don't think it has facilities though but nice views. If you need details - post reply and I will try and get there telephone number for you. We live in this area.
Ing farm at ingbirchworth is near Penistone I think, but it has a clean toilet and shower block and sells fresh eggs.
There's a pub at the end of the road too. They also have one static caravan. Just in case you need it the number is
01226 767938.
Just off A629 Rotherham to Halifax main Road.
There are loads of sites in Hope, Castleton as well aand there is also Holmfirth. I have a big sites book with loads of sites in if you need any help give us a shout.
Edale is a long way up the Edale valley - extra 10 - 15 mins on a small Rd. I would look at sites in the Hope Valley first like Laneside in Hope or Swallowholme in Bamford. There is another one pos two in Bradwell also. These are a lot closer to Sheffield.
ponds forge is 5 minuites walk from the train station so with this in mind you could get the train in from hope valley, where you can camp, hope is situated just before castleton also another option is the super tram that stops at ponds forge which you can pick up easily from meadow hall or off sheffield parkway [the main route into sheffield] making clumber park an option [very nice cc site]if you dont fancy driving in that is driving in from both these places is about 50 minuites
Hi all thanks for your responses I'll have a hunt and see what we end up doing.
The reason we are off to ponds forge is because my nephew is swimming there and we are off to see him swim - the train idea is sounding great I'll get onto it.

mike142sl, do you know what they charge per tent per night at fox hagg farm? cheers.
Sorry, I've never stayed there as I live just up the road. I drive past it now and again but had forgotten it was there until this question popped up. It never looks very busy and suspect it has basic facilities so could be on the cheap side for site fees.
If you ring the number I gave above I'm sure they will be able to complete the picture.
we recently stayed at the cc site at losehill and its really not too far to sheffield as my oh went to the football there during our stay.Nice area within walking distance of pretty village, castleton, and ok if you want to visit caves and do lots of hill walking
You'd be better off going to the site at Hatfield near Doncaster, close to the M18, straight drive off there to the M18 and then into Sheffield city centre on the Parkway. More traffic than the country lanes I know, but at least its all going in the same direction!
