hiya stuwey, you are right about this site being addictive!!!
ive not been to either of the campsites that you mentioned, but can highly recommend derbyshire and your young daughter will love it in matlock... its like a mini seaside without the sea, there is also a theme park there called gulivers kingdom which is not too expensive, also american adventure theme park is nearby.
campsites are a matter of personal preference, alot of people with children like (and recommend) sites with amusment arcades and play areas, but as our children are too young to play unattended, we prefer sites with open spaces without play areas because we are nagged constantly by the kids to take them.. i like the kids to be able to play ball or something, in view of our tent, that way we can relax too.
everyone wants something different from their camping trip.
how old is your daughter?

Hi stewey...
Have been to callow top loads of times...its great for the kids and the pub brew their own beer, pub food is fine also...you can walk into ashbourne from the site or cycle the tissington trail.. would advise to ask for field 4 though as the other fields are a good way from the toilets and play area..
hope this helps
keren..
it does get book up very quickly though, so book sooner rather than later..
