Hi
Withernsea could be loosly termed a resort. The beach is fine and there are the usual pubs / chippies / amusement arcades.
Its certainly got more to do than Skipsea.
I used to go as a kid and had some great times there. We went last year but the sea was freezing, but it doesn't seem to bother my 5 year old.
I suppose its what you make it.
Cheers
Paul

Withernsea might be tired and tacky, but when I was little my gran and grandad had a caravan on trailer park, (now a park resort, seathorne I think it might be called), there was nowt really there, but it always brings back happy memories as we used to spend every weekend and all the school holidays there. I suppose it was a case of making your own entertainment. The coastal drive to Hornsea is pretty, very windy roads which make me feel a bit ill. You would be only about half an hour from Hull, so the deep is worth a visit. I don't think it is a bad base to be. The only problem in the summer is the flies on the sea front, does any one remember the flies? I remeber getting an ice-cream and it would be covered! The other thing is the thunderstorms some of the weirdest storms I've experienced always seemed to be at With! I've really sold this place to you, haven't I, but I still like it for a ride out on a Sunday afternoon. (I'll be staying there this weekend with my own kids just to chill out and entertain ourselves, we'll be keeping out of all the amusements though)
