Can anyone give me details of very quiet, peaceful sites in Somerset/Dorset/Devon, with maybe a child's playground, but not much else ? I am sick of being disturbed at night by other campers, and am almost deciding to give up camping unless I find a site where I can go to bed at a reasonable time and not be woken up by too much noise!!

Have a look at Mounts Farm (I think that's what it's called) in Kingsbridge (Devon). Lovely site, friendly owners, small on-site shop and very, very quiet at night (they do have rules about noise after 11pm). Small children's play area too. Hope that helps !
Hi there, try Holmans wood in Chudleigh. It is close to the A38 but it certainly wasn't full of screaming kiddies etc and we found it very civilised with excellent toilet and shower facilities.

Nice play area, small animals including tortoise, chickens ducks.Kids can play in camping/caravanning field so you can keep an eye on them. They can even walk to on site shop.
Yeh, give up Cath, sounds like you're not cut out for camping.
I'd disagree, give Cath time to find her niche. Not everyone likes the same sites. Just as well really that we're not all the same, it'd be a boring old world.

What's wrong with wanting a nice peaceful site Breezy? It's one of the main reasons we go to The Old Oaks.(Or am I missing something and you were only joking?)
Whoops, sorry, should have put a funny smiley or something on the end.
As a couple of old 'uns ourselves with six grandchildren we use our camping time getting away from it all so consequently I look for the smaller, quieter sites and sometimes adult only sites (but that is no good for Cath if she has kids).
Just remember that on family sites you are going to get family noises.
Last year we went to West Fleet farm in Dorset, lovely place. We went first week of school holidays and it was quiet. It has a shop, play area, outdoor pool and a clubhouse that entertains the kids, and at 11.00pm no noise. A nipper bus comes onto the site to take you to Weymouth( we found it cheaper to use this than car parking). Really nice place.
