I've got this little whim, camping on the beach or pretty near, with just the sound of the waves. Anyone got ideas on where to go? We're based in the midlands, but quite willing to travel!

We just got back from St. David's Anglesey. Right on beach brilliant location. It was massivsly overcrowded though and everyone had had to pay up front for minimum of three nights so we were all stuck. I wouldn't go in bank holiday again but when it's quiet I bet it's brilliant.
beetle 68, Just to let you know the beach at St. Davids is never quiet in the hot weather. We have a caravan just down the road from there and Ive never yet been when its `quiet` on that beach

Wouldn't the tent pegs pull out of the sand???
In loose ground (any type) put the pegs in at a very shallow angle and then put another peg at a shallow angle across it (cross pegging) if it's really windy put a third peg in as well!!

Sorry about that, I need an English lesson!... The site is actually on the land side of the dunes, not on the beach (sand) itself...
Although the ground is quite sandy/gravelly/grassy, it holds together well and doesn't need any special pegs...
