I have just spent yet another Bank Holiday weekend crammed onto an overcrowded site with the flysheet of my tent virtually touching the tent pitched next to me.

The site I have just visited said 60 units but there must have been at least double that number and the facilities just couldnt cope with the number of people on site. 

So I have a question for all you C&CC members. Do the C&CC sites also pack you in like sardines or is it worth paying the club membership just to get some space. I find that more and more sites are just ignoring the safety and comfort of tenters, particularly over holiday weekends.

Got to agree with the above- the C&CC pitches are all permanantly set out- so if it says 60 pitches that's it- whenever you go, the 6 metre rule stays. Well worth joining in my opinion.

Can you say which site it was please ?

Thanks for your replys it looks like I'm going to join the C&CC next year. Our British camping is now all done for this year.

I would not be happy about naming and shaming this site, largely because they did their best to cope with the numbers by constantly cleaning toilets and staying on top of the rubbish. I'm sure that outside Bank Holidays that this is an excellent site so I have submitted a review which will allow people who are considering this site to read my opinion and help them make up their mind to use the site or not.

Sounds like my idea of hell.  We went to a great site in Devon last BH weekend and they were most fastidious about where we pitched to ensure we didn't come close to any other units.  All pitches are numbered and adhered to, and in the event we didn't have anybody anywhere near us.

Meant to have gone this weekend but didn't 'cos of the wet weather and forecast.

We are memebers of C&cc but find it hard to get a pitch unless we book months in advance. I think they should reserve busy times eg Easter/Whit for members only. Its really annoying to spend £30 per year on membership and find you can't get a pitch for Easter when you try to book 6 weeks in advance.
