Hi,

Im hoping someone can help,

My son plays for a under 9's rugby club. Myself and many of the other parents were talking about taking the kids on a camping weekend. The team have worked really hard this season and get on famously, so as most of the families are campers anyway, we thought it would be great to all go camping together for a weekend. The weekend we are looking at is Fri 14th July to Sun 16th July.

So far we have about 6 families with tents and 2 families with touring caravans, Basically we want to be on the east coast, filey, brid.... and be able to camp together with space (a field for example) where the boys can run around with a ball and not distrub anyone.. (they are well behaved, and wouldnt be running riot until the small hours)

It must be reasonable priced too.

I have rang round a few sites, who as soon as I mention group of families... and kids they tell me they dont do group bookings..

it would be nice to do it as a group booking so that we all can be together, rather than all trying to get on the same site for the same weekend.

Can anyone help..

Happy.  Look under Cayton Village campsite.  Tourers, motorhomes and tents is all they do.  Big camping/rally field at the back of the site so you shouldnt have any problems.  Its a quite site (no club) but local chippy is good and beach only about 3/4 mile away.

I know you want a coastal site but if you don`t mind being a bit away from the coast. The Black bull at Pickering is a good site. They have a games room, playground. They also have a football pitch/ field. We`ve seen football teams camping there. It seems to be mainly kids in the group with a few adults to suppervise. Give them a ring I`m sure they will be able to help.We love the Black Bull it`s our favorite site. There`s also a 9 hole golf course opposite and a family pub next door.

I can highly recommend this one too.  It's on the cliff top, with a path down to the beach.  There's a childrens play area and a loads of open fields where you can have a kickabout.

Just a thought, could you ask about a rally field, alot of sites have them, maybe if you tried booking as a "rally" you may get a better response?

Getting a little disheartened now, emailed loads of sites, but only 2 have replied...

Think I'm going to have to bash the phone next week.

Thanks for all your suggestions

Have you tried these?  They are all in or within a mile or two of Filey.  Filey Brigg & Reighton Sands both have a lot of open spaces for kids to play.  Orchard Farm is a lovely site with a bar and indoor pool.  The other two are next door to each other and are both really tidy little sites.

Centenary Way, Muston Grange, Orchard Farm, Filey Brigg, Reighton Sands (Haven)

Then a bit further up towards Scarborough is Flower of May, Cayton Village, and one called (I think) Browns.  Not too sure of the last one, but the other 2 are ok.

I'll let you know if I think of any more (Scarborough/Filey is my stomping ground)

I've found that a lot of companies aren't good at responding to emails, you'll get a lot further forward on the phone.

As suggested by familyof4 you'll probably get a better response booking as a rally rather than a group. It gives the suggestion of some sort of organisation rather than a disorganised rabble who might cause trouble.

I recieved a really nice reply from Wolds Way... and one of the other mums called them to confirm that they are ok with "our group".

They have been more than accomadating... all we have to hope for now is some nice weather.
