Hi, I'm looking for a campsite in the Peaks to visit in June, with access to lots of footpaths nearby (the wilder the hiking, the better - would ideally like to get up Kinder Scout). Quite happy with reasonably basic facilities, but does need a nice pub within 15 mins' or so walk. I've looked at sites around Edale but seems like they might be pretty noisy with the railway line there, I'm looking for something that feels away from it all (er, apart from the aforementioned country boozer!).
Any ideas, or other parts of the Peaks that are worth considering?
Thanks!
Mog

Hiya, there are several in Hope. I have hired a cottage there several times and remember seeing one just as you come into Hope on the left hand side. The railway is on the opposite side of the road so I don't think the line runs near it. I don't know what it is called but I am sure if you google Hope camping sites it will pop up. Hope this helps.
Coopers at edale isn't close to the railway particularly or try upper booth farm, but a longer walk to the pub, or come from the west and try the C+CC site in hayfield.

Hi there,
I stayed at Hayfield C&CC site last year and it was great. They don't take caravans though. It's very near kinder Scout and there is a nice pub 5 mins away. If you go into the local village about 20 min easy walk there are a few pubs an off licence and a great chippy, their chips and fish were the best I've had in years.

Thanks all, we have actually booked into Hardhurst Farm in Hope Valley after looking at all the options - the reviews say the rail line isn't a big problem there. We looked at Fieldhead but we like to be able to park next to the tent (we have LOTS of stuff!). Will let you know how it goes!
