Had a weekend at Abbey Farm, Llangollen last weekend and despite the crappy toilets had a really good time. 

One thing though, I was picking Ticks (or Mites not sure) out of my body for days afterwards (last one was from my shin a few days ago).  I've not stayed in a site that seems to have such a problem with these before (though obviously one stay isn't enough to make a sweeping statement - trying to be scientific here).

Has anyone else every stayed there and experienced anything similar?  Or have you had similar problems in any other places?

You're not supposed to put anything on them or burn them or anything.  What you're supposed to do is get a pair of tweezers and get them right down by the skin around the tick's head area and tweek it out with a twisting motion - easier said than done I would have thought, but there you go. You're supposed to make sure you don't leave the head in otherwise it can get infected. The symptoms apparently are flu-like. You can get some little plastic things from the vet called O'Toms to get them off animals and I don't see why they shouldn't work on humans. 

If you Google for ticks you should get loads of info.  Horrible little things and there doesn't seem to be any way of avoiding them.  There's an article on them in the June copy of Country Walking magazine which might be worth reading.

Toilets still crappy then - went there on a bank holiday weekend two years ago and can't describe the state of the toilets - not great with 3 young kids  - no ticks though - just mud
