I've recently been told that no public campsite will allow overnight hammock camping in the UK - does anyone have any experience or information on this?
I've previously used my hammock (a Hennessey) on private campsites with no bother - I have a bad back and find that I get a much better night's sleep if I use a hammock rather than sleeping on the ground (even with an airbed, thermarest or camp bed).
I'd like to be able to go camping with my partner (and our dogs), with him and the dogs in a tent and me in a hammock, but it seems no-where listed will allow it - some have stated that it's for health and safety reasons, or have said that 'people will garotte themselves'...
Does anyone know of anywhere in the Devon/Dorset area that would allow hammock camping?
