Nah definately not pony, more......baby bear i reckon,

As for the site, it's a compromise...one week at somewhere similar to keep the kids happy, the rest of the time I can go to somewhere miles from anywhere with no regimented lines of vans, no play area, and if possible loads of trees or a deserted beach...

hi i asked on phone today when booking a site about "insurance charges" for dogs on site, owners never heard of it. They thought what we all suspect, its just to put dog owners off. Incidentally this site has no charge for dogs. I was really amused by the owners response, he said he has never had to ask a dog to leave the site for loud or drunken behavior etc etc, and at times has wished to keep the dogs and just evict the owners.

well said i thought

In that case I would say its definite the £5 per day charge is just to stop dogs going to that camp, I wonder why they don't just say they don't allow dogs on camp and that would be the end of it.

Rabb

Your dog is huge - it's bigger than your tele!!!

Kelling charge differently depending on the time of year (don't they all!!) anyway they have over 150 pitches for dog owners alone and it's a very popular site (it seems to be when we're there!) and manage to get loads of bookings from people willing to pay for their dogs.

A doggy update, visited a site this weekend (ukcs meeet venue in sep) Can't fault the site..But sat. morning 7am partner is taking our dog for his morning walk, when passing the tent field  on route off site a staffs. bull terrier flies accross the field and starts attacking our dog, Now our dog is big, but still young and is panicing, partner doesn't want to let go, can't get rid of the other dog and is about to get dragged accross the field. Luckily another camper hears the fuss and comes out and literally beats off the other dog which runs back to its tent, she then says its been loose all weekend. Upshot is we complain to the site manager he goes to investigate, But we still see the dog the following day albeit on a lead...Now i'm p****ed off, a loose dog should get the owner a warning a dog thats loose and attacks should get the owners chucked off....No wonder dog owners are getting stung for silly rates .....This is NOT a dig at staffie owners, This is a individual case that could have been ANY dog, But the owners were young males, P***** and didn't really care but thought it was funny because "your dogs massive and was sh*t scared"

Am i allowed to run over their tent whilst occupied "cause my cars massive and theirs isn't" ?

No wonder some sites don't want dogs, you can have a field full of good owners but one   gets a bad name for dog owners....

That's awful, sadly to many Staffies are owned by absolute morons that think they have a tough dog, Staffie Terriers are a fantastic breed in the right hands but they have become so very popular that to many of the wrong people buy them that frankly shouldn't own any dog whatsoever, can't understand the site owner not chucking them off at all, I hope your dog is ok rabb.

Luckily our dog is ok, Maybe a few chunks of fur lost, He may be big but he's still a pup and he's the best natured dog you could meet, People come out of their van, tents etc to stroke him, this sort of thing can scare a dog for life. normally my five year old walks him with us thats how placid our dog is, He would have been dragged across the floor or worse....

Rabb -

I'm really sorry to hear about your incident. I am appauld at the amount of staffies owned by complete prats. Our two are disciplined and kept on a short lead around members of the public and other dogs - NOT because they are vicious BUT because of their reputation and people are nervous because of this. The saying 'the bark is worse than their bite' is true in our case. The owners of the dog in your case should have been removed from the site immediately. AND reported to the authorities.
