Hi all, I`m new to camping, well born again really but haven`t been for about 10 years and pre children! We are hoping to take our first proper outing at the weekend, have had a practice in the garden, went well no arguments whilst pitching tent.lol
I wondered if anyone can recommend a dog and child friendly site in north yorkshire.
Thanks
Becks

We've just got back from our first trip (since teenage years). We (us and 2yr old) went to Jasmine Park, about 10miles in-land from Scarborough. Beautiful area and very good campsite. There were several dogs and plenty of kids over the weekend. It's an attractive peaceful site, if you're after lots of facilities then not for you but if good toilets and showers, attractive paddock to pitch in and a field for kids to run in is what you are after then give it a go.

Nice play area for kids, proper dog walking facilities, even an indoor pool for if this weather doesn't hold (hush my mouth!).
We were there a few weeks ago and it is a nice site, not too busy. It depends what you want - no clubhouses or entertainment here but a good, clean family site so, if that is what you are looking, it is worth a visit.
Two near me: Akebar Park in Wensleydale, location for a recent UKCS meet, and Brompton on Swale, near Richmond and by the river Swale. Both reviewed on this site, both have good feedback and good facilities including play areas.
Our first family trip was to Akebar, our second will be at Brompton in 2 weeks time - we are staying close to home for a few practice runs and until we get good at it !
