Wahey!!!  Just had our first ever weekend camping and LOVED it!

We're now addicated and want more of the same!  We live in Northumberland and are looking for small campsites in the nearest counties?  Prefer small places with just a loo and shower and great views.

Ooooooo and must accept a dog too.

Any recommendations?  A lot of the smaller places on the Search pages here, don't have recommendations - or are negative because they weren't from people looking for basic facilities....

Thank you!

Well I love Abbots House Farm at Goathland North Yorks (it's in the search pages).  Very Basic but lovely.  It's in Goathland itself but down a track so you don't know the tourists are there.  Scenery is stunning (the picture of my tent in my gallery was taken there) and steam trains run close by.  We were the only people in one of the fields once and it was heaven.  It's a short walk to the loos and showers but the ones at the Farmhouse were clean the last time we were there.

Not sure where in Northumberland you are but you could try:

Honey Cottage, Selkirkshrie - not far across the scottish border, in the middle of nowhere - pub close at hand and really friendly people

Byerside Farm, Ebchester- lovely farm site where you have to go across a track to the toilets and showers in what was a stable. Very quiet - on Derwent walk.

There is supposed to be a good site at Middleton on Teesdale which is a lovely area. I haven't stayed there but have heard goot things about it.

Hope this helps.
