we stayed at coldsprings farm in buxton derbyshire last b/h weekend. nice for kids as they had baby lambs in a little pen that the children could feed and pet, the site is tiered so it was easy to keep an eye on the kids the staff were friendly the toilets and showers were very basic, but all new and spotlessly clean, the site is situated on a hill and the views are breathe taking. on the down side, it is just a site... no play area... but lots of room to play, no shop and no pub and as the site is high on the hill it is very exposed we had alot of strong winds. this is a working farm and looks like one, but we would go back as the views were worth the absence of some

of the luxuries!

you can do a search on here and find the details (tel no. ect)

i just noticed this is your first post and you are a new member!!!   soooo hello and a very warm welcome to ukcs!! this is THE best site for all camping advise, making friends and having a chat... hope you become as addicted as me (and many many others) xxxx

hope this helpsxxx

hi!!

you could try lickpenny at matlock - fantastic far reaching views and small playground for kids.  toilets are very good and clean.

if you want something a bit cheaper, try newhaven, situated between ashbourne and buxton - gets a bit muddy in the rain but not bad facilities and playground.

oops, just notice you got a tent - lickpenny only take caravans, sorry!!

highfields farm at ashbourne used to be ok but just been taken over by someone else so dont know what it like now.

hope that helps, and welcome to the site!!!

WE spent our very first camping trip at Peak gateway just out side of Ashbourne.

Lots of play stuff for the kids. :-)

We are going to Callow Top Holiday Park for the late Summer Bank Holiday. It looks good on their web site, we have not been before but our neighbors have and they highly reccommend it.

Cottage farm, Blackwell in the Peak, is a good place to go if you want good views, the facilities are basic but clean, it's not expensive either.

It depends what you want if you want pool play area etc then you want Callow top or Highfields, somewhere like that, Rivendale has a pub and resteraunt on site,  it's right by the Tissington trail for cycling or walking as are the other two.

Have a look in the camp site search at the reviews.

Welcome to the site by the way.

We spend time at Fenny Bentley, just outside Ashbourne at a site called Highfields Farm. Our girls love it there. There is a park, an indoor swimming pool a little shop and the site is situated alongside the Tissington Trail which is great for walks and bike riding. Can get a bit muddy in the rain but the setting and the availibility of the local pubs and walks more than make up for that.  This is the second time Ive recommended Highfields Farm in as many days Im sure I should get a commission !

We are going to look at Cottage Farm at the weekend. The only thing is that i have read that it is not a flat site so need to see how much of a slope it has. Does anyone know???? dont fancy falling over in the morning.
