Read somewhere about services near Exeter to stop overnight en route to Cornwall.

Or is there plenty of safe laybys to get my head down once off the M5.

Does anyone have any info to save me driving for 8/9 hours.

Only 5 weeks to go.

You can stop at most services for two hours for free. We find that leaving home, (a mile from junction 28 on the M25), at about midnight and then having a couple of 1-2 hour stops in various services en route to Cornwall does us just fine. Well tbh it does hubby just fine, but I never sleep when we stop, even with eye shades and ear plug in, I'm better going without sleep en route.

We always stop for brekkie at the Exeter services though.

Can't help you with any 'proper' overnight stops I'm afraid coz we only do the couple of short stops. And it looks like you'll be approaching Cornwall from a whole other direction to us.

Only 8 weeks and 1 day to Heligan Woods and counting....every bl**dy one of 'em

Bear in mind that Exeter services is the main meet up point for people travelling to cornwall and extremely popular during the summer months.....

Believe me I Know......have to travel past it twice a day going to and from work

Exeter services can get pretty busy for overnight stops in peak season, and isn't that cheap either.  We usually look for a site just past there to stop off for the night.

We usually set off at tea time drive till we've had enough then check in a travel lodge then carry on in the morning, and get there in time to get on our pitch.

Hi araggedtiger

we have been to pentewan the past 3 years and are also going this July 22nd from Hull

what we do is set off fri tea 5ish have a stop for around an hour  for tea about 8.30 ish then we arrive at pentewan about 12.30am ish and go in the overnight holding area put legs down and straight to bed then nice and fresh for sat morning to pitch up, we make the beds up in our caravan before we set off

we have done this 3 times now and have never hit any traffic going this time, only through Hull at 5pm but the rest is a breeze, and thats going steady and having toilet breaks

hope this helps

We had a couple of overnight stops on the way down to Cornwall a couple of weeks ago. First one was at Michael Wood (a few other vans here) and then Exeter.

No problems at either services.
