Hi,friends of ours with tent would like to try out camping for the first time - what a responsibility!

Do you know of sites that take tourers and tents near oswestry for a newbie and her caravan chums - she's a bit of a Margot from the good life so no roughing it!

Oswestry is a bit lacking in nearby sites, although there are a few Caravan Club CLs.

My favourite locally is The Trotting Mare which is about 20 mins drive away. Henstent is about 30 mins drive. There are some near Wrexham or Shrewsbury which are just as far away e.g. The Plassey, Oxon, Cartref. Or there are some at Llangollen, again 20 - 30 mins drive.

Very quiet and very clean too!!

We also stayed at Lower Lacon at easter this year....I wouldn't recommend it.

The grounds were beautiful and the pitches well spaced out....BUT......

Had a nightmare setting up....about 1 inch of soil ontop of concrete so had to buy a load of rock pegs (the camp shop was raking it in with sales!!!)

Shower and toilet facilirties were disgusting.

Showers were always cold.

Large groups of foul mouthed teenagers palying on the childrens area at all hours day and night. 

My 2 (aged 3 and 6) only spent the first day able to play on the area.

The "out door heated pool" was a mass of algae...uggghhhhhh

Hi Caz - dim or what!  I saw your van at the trotting mare this weekend and thought what a coincidence - it was only as we left and I read 'host' in your window that the penny dropped and I realised it was a meet!
