We have often stayed at 'Little Bodieve' campsite just outside Wadebridge - most recently on the last bank holiday. There are more Caravans (tourers) than there used to be but you can usually find a decent space (unless you insist on EHU which will limit possibilities). There is a clubhouse which we didn''t go to but seemed OK with entertainment for the kids if that's your thing, we tend to prefer quiter times outside the tent which are also possible.
Location wise it's about a mile from the Camel Trail in Wadebridge which you can cycle to Padstow on (and it's beautiful) - cycle hire shops abound if you don't take your own. Obviously you can drive to Padstow too :-) The other way is Polzeath which is a surfers cove and next to that Damar Bay which is better for family beach days out unless you like waves.
There's also a small outdoor pool, a bit of a park and decent enough showers/toilets. Also a dog walking field if you need it.
We'll go there again, worth a look.
