Hi folks. We are looking forward to visiting Edinburgh for the last week in July. Have looked at Drum Mohr Caravan Park and that looks very good. It is just me and hubby (kids staying at home) we have a Trailer Tent. If anyone has any knowledge or recommedations on sites near Edinburgh please let me know. Many Thanks. Cat

Drum mhor is not actually in Edinburgh it is outside Musselburgh, if you want a site in Edinburgh you would probably be better with Mortonhall which is on the outskirts close to the Pentland hills, also has a good bus service direct to the centre of Edinburgh (No 11) since parking in the centre of Edinburgh is very difficult. There is a pub close to the site which also does quite nice bar meals. (The Stable Bar). Hope this is helpful

Drum Mhor is really near a railway station though, and the train takes you into the centre of Edinburgh in ten minutes. There`s also a good park and ride on the edge of Edinburgh between Mussellburgh and Edinburgh. If you do want to take the car into Edinburgh proper, it takes about twenty minutes. Parking ain`t that bad...you just need to know where to go. You don`t need a car in Edinburgh centre though...just get an off peak day bus pass for £2.20. There are several bus routes that pass within a five minute stroll of Drum Mhor.
I like Drum Mhor and go there a couple of times a year at least...it`s my local campsite, very clean, nice peaceful surroundings and right on the edge of the East Lothian countryside, which is well worth a look. I live in Musselburgh, so if you do decide to go to Drum Mhor and need any local info, give me a shout.

"Parking ain`t that bad...you just need to know where to go." fair point Valk Scot but if you are not from the area it may be difficult to know where to go.

That`s why I suggested Cat give me a shout before she arrives. I can give her the relevant insider info if she tells me where she wants to visit.
