Our first family camping trip (with wife and two little lads aged 3 and 1). This was the first time we had camped as a family, the first time my wife had ever camped! I've done a lot of backpacking before and finally managed to get her to come along!

We arrived at High Laning in Dent on Saturday afternoon so the site was quite busy. Staff didn't seem to bother that I had rang and booked a place earlier in the week (what would have happened if they were now full?). We managed to find a pitch Ok but the only space left was on a bit of a slope. Facilities were good but the shower block is in the top field across the road from where we were at the bottom of the bottom field.

Our tent a Sunncamp Profile XL went up with no bother and has more than enough room for the 4 of us.

It was quite noisy till well past 11.30pm with people still playing foodball and load noise from someones's stereo. Unfortunately they were all awakened nice and early (5.30am) by my baby son crying as he wanted to get up. When he get's up everyone else has to too. Sorry folks!

As it was our first time out I decided we would eat the the pub rather than try cooking. We arrived at 5.30 (it was empty) but they didn't start serving food until 6.30 (by which time it was packed!) Great beer, good basic food with large portions

Used my Colemen Duel Fuel stove for the first time to make a brew - it works like a dream - thank's to everyone who recommened it.

We has a nice walk along the river on Sunday morning and even saw a Heron hunting.

Hasn't put my wife off so we should be off again soon for a proper weekend.

Brian.
