Hey up folks. O.H has just purchased a Vango Gamma 350. I thought it would be a good idea if we broke the journey to Devon this year by buying a small tent, couldnt imagine pitching the Monty 6 for one night. Anyhow he thought it might be worth a try and the plan is to leave Friday afternoon (if I can get the time off work) drive for about 3 hours  and find a site enroute, unpack the small tent, self inflaters, and sleeping bags, have a good nights sleep, make a cup of tea in the morning then set off for Devon.

Would be leaving Northumberland, travelling A1 or M6 does anyone know nearest campsite to this route where we could crash.

I AM AN ADDICT (TO TENT BUYING)

Gonnot help you but have a look at places down the M6 about three hours driving you could cover about 130 -150 miles depending on speed you can maintain then look at nearest place then checkout the 23 in that area

Bess if youre in the CCC check out their out and about supplement for pub site, they tend to be just off motorways and are ridiculously cheap, and the huge advantage is when your set up theres akways a cold one in the pump.

Id go M1 depending where in Gods county you are.

no we arent in the ccc and we have 2 dogs so no good going B & B. We do need to find somewhere just off the motorway, we were going to take the A1 but that might have changed to the M6. We have done a similar journey for the past 3 years and travelled all night with a few breaks inbetween but I think it would be less stressful, not to mention tiring, for the driver if we could pitch up for the night.

Anyhow I think I will keep trawling this site to see if there is anywhere suitable for us to stay.

Thanks for your suggestions
