I have visited quite a lot of places in the uk- mostly in the South, and fancy a change from the norm. I have a few requirements though-

Beautiful scenery/ nice quiet area- not to close to a busy city or town- but local to village.

As we don't have children we don't need the usual swimming pools/ games rooms/ club houses. Prefer smaller sites.

Clean and modern toilet block is a must.

We love visiting attractions- historic mostly- plus the unusual like caves.

We have been to Derbyshire already, and plan to go to Cornwall in a months time- so somewhere different- not as far north as Scotland as only have a week off- and we live in Kent.

Any suggestions? I know it is a tall order, but if anyone is going to know- its you lot!

How about Highclere Farm, Seer Green, in Buckinghamshire?  I've been a couple of times, quiet site, near to villages & market towns, within easy reach of you in Kent (just off M40, J2), lots of attractions in the surrounding area.

Have you considered the Lake District ???

As long as you steer clear of the tourist hot-spots like Bowness, Windermere, there are some lovely small villages and towns with plenty of character & lots of "natural" attractions.

Vale of York too far?  Few sites up there that members have mentioned.

We stay in Scarborough (coz the kids like the beach).  Nice countryside.  Has own castle.  Not far to York.  We stay at Cayton Village about 3 miles outside of town itself.  Nice quiet friendly site with good shower/toilet facilities.  Lots of families stay inspite of no club but generally the kids are well behaved.

I know it's still in the south, but The Old Oaks at Glastonbury is well worth a visit. It's an Adults Only site and is very quiet & relaxed. Glastonbury and Wells are close and there's lots to do in Glastonbury and masses in the surrounding area inc Wookey Hole and the Cheddar Gorge. The site itself is immaculate - the pitches huge and the toilet block is kept so clean you could eat your dinner off the floor!! In fact the only thing against this site is that it spoils you for going anywhere else!!

You could try the Cotswolds. Plenty of places of interest and small villages or market towns.

Hello there,

Have you been to Cheddar Gorge which is near Bristol/Western Supermere, it is lovely part of the world. Loads to see and do, Historic Bath is not far away, the caves at Wookey Hole and Cheddar are great.

Have a look.

Shirley

Why not take a squiz on 23 and see what pops up in the area you're after? If you read ukcs members reviews, you'll get a better idea of what's on offer and probably bound to find something that meets your requirements?

Happy hunting

Wow, lots of ideas- Wales and Yorkshire and nr York sound great. Did Cheddar, Somerset late last year, and Derbyshire this year- so fancy somewhere different. Can anyone suggest the names of some good sites In perhaps North Wales or the Yorkshire Dales with good facilities?
