I know the 'Waveney River Centre' though I haven't stayed there myself... I'm sure you already know about the facilities, it's all based around the 'Waveney Inn' at Burgh St. Peter, near Beccles. There is the pub, a large(ish) shop, indoor swimming pool, and all the other facilities you'd expect at a large holiday/campsite, but at a cost!... Lots of the facilities will cost you extra (pool, showers, laundrette etc.)... The boats 'coming & going' at the moorings can be quite entertaining, if you like 'people watching' while having a pint at the pub...
Burgh St. Peter is pretty remote, among the grazing marshes of south east Norfolk, the nearest town of any size is Beccles (a lovely Suffolk market town) which is about 7 miles away. There are some lovely 'riverside and country walks' (lookout for the church, St. Peters funnily enough, it's very unusual) if that's your thing... You'll definitely need a car, to reach places you might like to visit. The beautiful beaches at Walberswick, Minsmere, Gorleston or Winterton, the 'bright lights', shops and other interests at Gt. Yarmouth and Norwich. The lovely towns of Beccles, Bungay, Southwold and Walberswick are all nearby. Then of course, there's 'The Broads', which is probably why you chose the area... At Burgh St. Peter you're at the most southerly and probably not the prettiest part of Broadland. But you could drive up to somewhere like Ludham or Horning (less than an hour away), where you can hire 'dayboats' and see 'traditional' Broadland scenery from the river... In short I'd describe the "Waveney River Centre" as a good base to explore 'the Broads' or the towns & villages and beautiful coast of Norfolk & Suffolk...
Your kids might find Burgh St. Peter 'a bit boring' as it's very quiet, laid back and peaceful, but there's always somewhere like 'The Pleasure Beach' and 'Marina Centre' at Gt. Yarmouth for a bit of excitement... I hope you all enjoy your stay in Norfolk and have a brilliant holiday...
