Can anyobdy give me any information about the above were to go campsites to visit were to oban but would like to travel to diffrent places maybe to orkneys can you take a caravan across the ferrys what would we expect to pay

There seams to be lots of caravans up the do we need to book well in advance many thanks roy

You could try the Isle of Mull. Get the ferry from Oban to Craignure. The whale watching boats go from Tobermorry so if you can get a direct crossing it would save taking the car over to Mull.  If you like wildlife it is also worth booking a tour in Mull with Wildlife Expeditions, very good chance of seeing Eagles and otter with David Woodhouse.

Didnt see any Whales, but saw Basking shark, Dolphins, Porpoise, Sun fish (quite rare) lots of seals and a Hurry of Gannets which was quite spectacular. sounds like you had a whale of a time excuse the pun  exelet poat thanks we would like to stay at that caravan site have you got the name of it please also we were going to stay on the isle of mull can you take caravans across on ferry many thanks

If you want to go to Orkney try Pentland Ferries £12 per adult £26 for car £26 for caravan ( any size) each way.  Booking essential, book by phone, pay on the boat.

Hi we stayed in Glenelg a couple of years ago near the Kylerhea ferry to Skye.(It's a tiny ferry but I'm sure you could get a caravan on it)

That year there were Minky Whales near Corran.

It's really very beautiful.-Have a lovely time.

I'm from Scotland and have been round the coast many times but have yet to see any big whales although I've seen porpoises/dolphins from the ferries a few times - including the Orkney ferry last year.

We used the Pickaquoy site in Orkney and it's pretty good and well located close to the centre of Kirkwall.
