We want to camp somewhere... approx 2hours or so away from South Somerset but really need a "dog-free" site as our 7 year old is petrified of them since the neighbours' dog tried to bite her!  We stayed at Christchurch Site in the Forest of Dean last summer and would love to know of any others that come recommended.  I've looked in the "campsite search" but it's proving difficult to find many without dogs.  Can anyone tell me of nice sites in Cornwall, New Forest etc.  (Also child friendly!!)  I'd really appreciate any help offered!!

Some sites don't allow dogs in Peak season. You will find though that most sites are quite strict about how dogs are kept on campsites. I must admit that 99% of owners are VERY responsible. Also, many sites have outfits with dog in separate fields.

Holmsley in the New Forest have a dog free area but this gets booked up very quickly. Dogs are allowed on other parts of the site.

Thanks Loopy and adandemsmom for your help!  I will look up Holmsley now and check the other sites!  Many thanks.

Perran Springs near Perranporth is a NO Dog Park, they do not allow dogs on there at any time of the year, so you'll be safe with you kids there.

We've just come back from a weekend at Warren Farm in Brean.  I don't know how to post a link but it's easily found on the campsite search.

Not an entirely dog free site (although we didn't actually see any whilst we were there aynway), but they do have pet-free fields for camping.

Great facilities for children ~ small farm area, play barn, play areas everywhere, 2 minutes from the beach.

Thanks to everyone for their views and recommendations.  Huge thanks to bigmoney2 for the celtic advice...Scotland does have its oddities.....like haggis...what is that all about?

Anyhow I'm off to look at the listings again... oh not yet as I am smelling burning pizza wafting from the kitchen dept.....must be dinner time!

Bye!!!
