This is interesting as most of you seem to agree with me that 8 am is about the right time.
I am very sympathetic to someone if they have a child that is ill or just throws a Paddy this can't be helped but as I said they were running around chasing each other squeeling and when I did get up at 7.30 one of the Dads was playing football with them and they were just as noisy. My friend said I should have gone out and asked them to not be so noisy if it bothered me but I would have had to get dressed and by that time I would have been wide awake anyway.
If they and us had been staying another night I would for sure have asked them to be quieter the next morning.

i think its ok for kids to be up at 7am, but playing and disturbing others loudly before 8 is a bit much. surely mums and dads can keep them occupied in the van/awning with tv/breakfast etc until at least 7.45/8am?!
have been woken before by hairdryer in next van along at 6am! which i think is a bit much, if you really must dry your hair at that time in the morning i suggest doing it with a towel !
7.00am I wish, at a recent Cub camp I went to the little darling were up and playing football at ...wait for it... 5.30am! I don't know what their leaders were doing!
On our family hols we normally stir at about 8.00am, but then my lads are a bit older now! We quietly listen to the radio, have a cuppa!
It's a shame so many of us like 8 am and don't get it.At one site this year my daughters dubed one 7 year old "Gordon Ramsey", so fond of the F word was he early and late!!
A quiet word with the folks running the site can work wonders if you don't fancy confrontation yourself, after all, every site would like a return booking or a good review on here. We've always tried this option first, and only ever once has the problem reoccured. A polite word from the site owner can suddenly remind people of their responsibilities.
To the family who like a night out...I love to hear the older kids shhhhing at each other when they come back (what they think is ) late after a family night trying to be quiet. I fondly remember doing the same at 11 o'clock aged about 12!!

I have no problems with hearing very small children & babies because obviously it's impossible to keep them silent, especially when camping! But I do think it's courtesy to avoid noisy play til about 8am.
Equally though, if in an ideal world I'd like peace and quiet til 8am, I'm sure there are many folks who'd also like it quiet late at night when often the adults are the ones causing the noise. And I know which situation I'd rather tackle!
It's true as well, camping wouldn't be camping without being woken up by the sounds of children's laughter at the crack of dawn!

I laugh at my 13 year old son, as we leave the pub/bar/club house, he always turns to his 10 year old sister and says `Now remember BE QUIET on the way back and for God`s sake watch where you`re walking!` lol wonder who he takes after? It`s soo funny to see them concentrating on not making a noise!
Forgot to mention, we have had far more bother from kids running riot, kicking balls against our tents etc sometimes as early as 6.30 am, than we have ever experienced from people waking us up at night!

I don't think kids playing outside at 7 o'clock in the morning would bother me at all... By then I would have had the cockrels crowing, the cows mooing, the lambs bleating, the doves in the trees cooing and my girlfriend snoring & farting... Why should I be bothered about kids playing!...

So true!
Can you believe ,we were on a site on a working farm last year ,and there were complaints about the noise of the sheep !!
One of the reason we now go adult only, when we go away we go for peace and quiet, we get up at 7am for work, so when we go away we dont want waking up early by a load of screaming kids.
