we are looking for a non commercialised site in this area, I have looked on the campsite search but cannot find any, so pleeeese help if you know of a good campsite in this area, within 10-15 miles of Donington

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Look under Campsite Reviews - under name of Town
Shardlow / Swadlincote.
Members of this group are going to meet up at Swadlincote, so no doubt someone will know what this site is like.
We had a look around the Marina at Shardlow, nice little place, campsite flat. Don't know what facilities they have, so you need to check this out.
Hope this helps.
I'm not sure if they definitely take tents but have a look at this link and maybe give them a call. It is about 10 minutes from Castle Donington. I live in the area but this is the only one I can think of at the moment. If I think of any more I'll post again.
We went to the down load festival in june and stayed at a site called Kings mill camping and caravaning site, its in Donnington down a country lane and the owners where great, as the crow flies its less than a mile away but by road you go in a kind of square and its three miles, the campsite owners arranged a minibus to pick people up and take them if they didn't want to drive and it was £2.60 a head, a lot of people walked it but didn't fancy that myself, the owners couldn't do enough for you and where there from 8.00 am in the morning till gone 11 at night cleaning and organising, they put a bar on in the social room for the week end and did a bbq as well Id defiantly recommend it. the owners live in a bungalow next door and there son lives on site.
I did do a review but it hasn't appeared yet, there was one shower that uses tokens but they also got 2 porto showers dilivered for the weekend but I didnt use them and 3 toilets in the ladys and a cubical with sink, it was a nice campsite with trees most of the way arround and very rural, its next to Donnington nurseries a garding centre.
