Hi Snowy i used to live in newquay about 10 years ago, its a great place the beaches are fantastic theres surfing(fistral beach is best fot this or watergate bay) both easily within walking distance you can hire boards or boogy boards for the kids (lay on big floats basically) plus wet suits at reasonable rates almost from every beach side shop. theres also the zoo with cafe which is nice its right next to a crazy golf and pitch and put area which also has go karts, theres also the sea life centre plus plymouth is only a 45min drive across the tamar bridge worth a look and also a visit to truro and lands end but be aware a american company now owns lands end and you do have to pay for the privalage of getting anywhere near the famous sign post with all the directions to places all over the world.

All that said you dont really have to leave newquay theres plenty to do the best camp site when i lived there was hinderwell or something like that forgot the name, but that has swimming pools a club with live entairtainment and a kids club plus a shop theres also a tesco store right outside its gates.

hope this helps a little ,have a great time.

Mick

Hi, there is plenty to do in Newquay as Mick has listed. We always go to Holywell Bay just outside Newquay not only great beach but if you fancy a break from the beach they have a fun park on the road to the beach which you are not charged ppn just tokens for what you go on. Usual stuff go karts, pitch & putt, water rides its not a full day but we usually take a picnic as car park is grass. Great fun to while away half a day at a reasonable cost!

Really envious of you as we are struggling to get in anywhere in Newquay !! Enjoy!

Kate

Do you cycle?  You could do the Camel trail which runs between Padstow and Wadebridge - an old failway line - more or less flat, about 6 miles each way, lovely scenery and lots of birds and wildlife.  Cycle hire available both ends, we do it every year and the kids love it.
