Hi does anyone know any good campsites in/near/around Llangollen? Ideally we like big sites with one toilet block (further the way the better!), basic, quiet (maybe no kids?), accepts dogs and not full this wk/end (so maybe first come first get!).
We just want tsomewhere with nice views to chill and have a few nice walks over this wk/end.
Thanks anyone who can sugest/give info. I have had a look at the sites on the directory but nothing leaps out. Any recommendations?

This quiet, level site is just seven miles from Llangollen, and is adjacent to the restored Carrog Steam Railway Station and close to the beautiful River Dee.
My sister went here last weekend, it's quite a nice site & ideal if you are interested in trains as the station is right by it.. It didn't have showers though & is a small site,Its not walking distance to LLangollen but you can jump on the train ... ..We live just down the road from LLangollen & I think they do lack a damn good touring site in LLangollen..
Thanks for those. Not sure about being near the Station but will certainly consider that one.
Are there any better sites outside of Llangollen? We are coming from Stoke and just didnt want a long drive but might consider a site further away if its just what we like. Or maybe there is a site somewhere that is nearer to us?
Any ideas other than moving Shell Island to Chirk!!!

For the discerning holidaymaker a truly unique experience!
Enjoy the handmade crafts and Boutique shops in the Edwardian farm buildings; dine in the Shippon Restaurant with a sumptuous a la car ...more
This is a beautiful site but has a swimming pool & extra's so it's not the basic site you are after.. It's around 4 miles from Wrexham & 12(approx) from LLangollen ..It's very popular aswell....
My sister has just said that the Carrog site trains stop running early on in the day so you don't have any noise.. It's a quiet peaceful site with beautiful walks.. We are going to try in ourselves one weekend for a night or 2..
Try Wern Isaf Farm, you can find it in the campsite search. We often use this place as it is close to home but also feels a million miles away.
It is at the foot of Castle Dinas Bran so ideal if you fancy going off walking, but only a 10 min walk into Llangollen itself. It is a working farm & the owners are really nice & couldn't be more helpfull.
There is a site called Abbey Farm at the foot of Horseshoe pass, and in the grounds of the old Abbey ruins, lovely views, nice walk into Llangollen at the back of the site, takes about twenty minutes. Two pubs within walking distance, only draw back is the loos, they are very, very basic, shame cause it's a lovely site.
They are in the camp site search and they do have a web site.
