cant recommend one but what we do when we are going to try somewhere new is to pick a few out of the cades camping book and then check their reviews on this site, so far so good, only time we got a bad site was when we didnt check it on the web, dont go to wing lakes if ever your going rutland way!!!!

Hi Wirral36,

Just got back yesterday from Park Foot at pooley Bridge, Ullswater.

The campsite was a big one that's family oriented (loads of playgrounds, big restaurant/bar) and it seemed there were families from all walks fo life there.

My girlfriend and I were in the field next to th lake and the lake was astoundingly beautiful. There is fishing in Ullswater (a bit of trout, a bit of predator fishing apparantly) and the River Eamont, which flows out of the lake about 10mins fromthe campsite, is just the nicest looking trout river you'll lay your eyes on.

I didn't fish but saw plenty of brownies in the river and there plenty of anglers on Ullswater.

The campsite was really clean, if a little pricey at 318 per night for a tent. Real family feel to things and the town's pubs were veery family oriented.

Hope this helps

Hi Wirral,

I have been to Parkfoot recently too, they have 3 fields, one is near to the lake, very nice site. The onsite shop stocks more than the nearest village ( pooley bridge) and there camping equipment is cheaper too. Its not the cheapest site but it is nice, be a little wary about the 2 play areas, one has a climbing wall that the pegs a loose on and the other has a tyre swing which a little girl almost had her nose broke on when it hit her. Take 20p's for the showers, they fail to advertise this on their site and when booking. There is a pub onsite which has entertainment and discos on. If your kids like horses, the site has its own riding treks at the top of the site, think its around £18 for an hours trek, leave the kids to it and go sit in the pub, lol

Hope this helps

Gary

we have also been to Park Foot and can recommend it too.

However if you require EHU, there is only a limited amount of them available for tents (and they are next to the shop, not the lake) but that apart, it is a lovely site.

We often been to the lakes and would recommend Pooley Bridge in Ullswater lovely place clean toilets and showers and clubhouse and shop on site and right next to the lake....there is a stream that runs through it and our kids certainly enjoy being in the water also a small park there aswell also if you do manage to go take a trip to high force...not far from campsite its really nice hope you have a nice time....
